Dual-Turret Automatic Winding Equipment

Dual-Turret Automatic Winding Equipment

Dual-Turret Automatic Winding Equipment is the winding section for continuous slitting lines. Two winding positions rotate through an automatic changeover sequence, allowing a finished roll to be removed while the next core enters the winding position. The system coordinates turret movement, winding speed, web tension, core positioning and roll transfer. Configuration is selected according to material type, web width, finished-roll diameter, core size, roll weight and required line speed.

Product Overview

Dual-Turret Automatic Winding Equipment is the winding section for continuous slitting lines. Two winding positions rotate through an automatic changeover sequence, allowing a finished roll to be removed while the next core enters the winding position.
The system coordinates turret movement, winding speed, web tension, core positioning and roll transfer. Configuration is selected according to material type, web width, finished-roll diameter, core size, roll weight and required line speed.

Dual-Turret Winding Configuration

Two Winding Positions

Two winding shafts are mounted on a rotating turret. The active shaft performs the winding cycle while the second shaft is prepared for the next roll.

Automatic Roll Change

The turret moves the prepared shaft into the winding position through a programmed sequence. Core positioning, web transfer and finished-roll handling are coordinated during the changeover.

Continuous Production

The two-position arrangement supports repeated roll changes within the slitting process. It is suitable for lines with regular finished-roll discharge and frequent winding cycles.

Winding Control

Servo Drive
Servo drives control winding speed and shaft movement during acceleration, steady winding and roll change. Drive parameters can be adjusted according to material characteristics and finished-roll requirements.

Tension Control
Web tension is regulated according to material thickness, stiffness, surface condition and winding diameter. The required tension range is determined by the material and finished-roll specification.

HMI Operation
The color touch-screen HMI provides access to winding parameters, speed settings, tension settings and changeover controls. Operating values can be adjusted for different production specifications.

Roll-Change Process

Core Preparation

The empty core is installed on the standby winding shaft before the active roll reaches its target diameter.

Turret Transfer

The turret rotates the prepared shaft into the winding position according to the programmed changeover sequence. Shaft movement and web transfer remain coordinated during the transfer.

Finished-Roll Removal

Once the target roll diameter is reached, the finished roll leaves the active winding position. The prepared core then enters the next winding cycle.

Suitable Materials

Plastic Films
Suitable for film converting applications requiring controlled tension and consistent winding across different finished-roll diameters.

Paper
Winding parameters can be adjusted according to paper thickness, stiffness, web width and finished-roll requirements.

Aluminum Foil
Thin foil applications require controlled web tension and stable roll formation. Operating parameters are selected according to foil thickness and finished-roll specifications.

Laminated Webs
Laminated materials can be processed when tension, winding diameter and roll-formation settings are matched to the material structure.

Application Fit

• Slitting Integration
The winding section is configured to follow the operating conditions of the upstream slitting and web-guiding systems, including web width, tension requirements and line speed.
• Material Versatility
The equipment can be configured for plastic films, paper, aluminum foil and laminated webs according to material thickness, stiffness and winding behavior.
• Operational Flow
The two winding positions provide a defined sequence for finished-roll discharge, shaft transfer and new-core preparation during repeated production cycles.

Selection Criteria
• Material Specs
Confirm material type, thickness, web width, structure and surface characteristics. These values determine the required tension range and winding configuration.
• Roll Requirements
Define finished-roll width, target diameter, core diameter and maximum roll weight. These specifications determine the mechanical requirements of the winding shafts and turret.
• Speed Range
Confirm required line speed together with material behavior, finished-roll diameter and changeover frequency. The winding configuration should match the specified production range.

Quality and Production Considerations

Mechanical Inspection

Check turret rotation, shaft movement, core positioning and roll transfer for sequence accuracy and repeatable operation.

Winding Verification

Trial winding verifies web tension, roll formation, roll alignment and winding behavior using the specified material and target diameter.

Control Verification

PLC sequences, HMI parameters, servo response and automatic changeover functions are checked against the defined operating requirements.

FAQ

Q: What is the function of a dual-turret winding system?

A: It provides two alternating winding positions for automatic roll changes during a continuous slitting and rewinding process.

Q: What materials can be processed?

A: Typical applications include plastic films, paper, aluminum foil and laminated webs. Final configuration depends on material thickness, width, stiffness and winding requirements.

Q: What information is required for equipment selection?

A: The main inputs are material type, thickness, web width, finished-roll width and diameter, core diameter, roll weight, required speed and winding method.

Q: Can winding tension be adjusted?

A: Yes. Winding tension and related operating parameters can be adjusted according to material characteristics and finished-roll requirements.

Q: Can the equipment be integrated with an existing slitting line?

A: Yes. The winding section can be configured to match the upstream slitting, web-guiding and tension-control systems, together with the finished-roll discharge arrangement.
